MRS. HERMAN LOEPP

It has pleased our Heavenly Father to call Home to Glory our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Katie Brunn Loepp. She was born in South Russia on June 10, 1887, to Jacob and Elisabeth Schleiger Brunn. When she was about four years old her parents migrated to this country, settling southeast of Inman, Kansas. She received her elementary education in the Lake Valley School.

On Dec. 16, 1908, she was united in holy matrimony to Herman Loepp at Hutchinson, Kansas, with whom she had the privilege of sharing life for over 45 years. Thirteen children were born to this union, of whom three preceded her in death, namely Peter, Gertrude, and Rosella. They farmed in the Inman community all their married life until in August 1950 when they moved to town.

About 20 years ago she was stricken with a serious case of pneumonia, and was not expected to live. However, through medical aid and the prayers of Christian friends the Lord spared her life so that she could continue with us in the family circle. She has suffered considerably the last years with rheumatism. This together with her poor eyesight handicapped her in her many duties as a mother in the home. It also necessitated her staying at home much of the time and thereby deprived her of the many joys such as attending church and mingling with friends. Nevertheless she felt the constant companionship of her Lord.

On Aug. 5, 1934, she and her husband were baptized together upon the confession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour by the Rev. J. P Balzer. She was an active member of the women’s mission society as long as her health permitted. Finally when her eyesight became too dim to participate in the sewing, she would continue to attend their meetings for the benefit of the Christian fellowship. In the later years she missed the attendance in church, but at various occasions her Sunday school class and other organizations from the various churches in the community would meet in her home. This she greatly appreciated for it helped her to bear her cross for the Lord.

During the last few months she suffered quite severely and spent about two months in the hospital at McPherson and Wichita. Finally several weeks ago she was brought back to her family home, where the family cared for her until she passed to her eternal reward at 9:28 a.m. on April 22, 1954, reaching the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her beloved husband Herman; six daughters with their husbands and families, Clara, Mrs. Herman Siemens of Buhler, Hilda, Mrs. John A. Pauls of Inman, Marie, Mrs. Arnold Wall of Buhler, Edna, Mrs. Bill French, Tillie, Mrs. Clayton Bailey, and Katherine, Mrs. Glenn Upton, all of Wichita; four sons, Theodore and family of Mentor, Kansas, Herman Jr. of Wichita, Arnold and family of Hutchinson, and Edward and family of Wichita; 20 grandchildren; five half-brothers, Jacob of Furley, Kansas, Alex, Frank and Alvin of Los Angeles, and Herman of Hastings, Nebr.; two step-sisters, Mrs. Mike Shaeffer of Hillsboro, Kansas and Mrs. Jacob Schroeder of Canada, besides many relatives and friends.—The Family.
