Bishop Called In Death At Hopedale, Ill.
SIMON LITWILLER SERVED ILLINOIS CHURCHES SINCE ORDINATION IN 1910
Hopedale, Ill. — Funeral services for Bishop Simon Litwiller, 76, were held Tuesday morning, July 3, at the Hopedale Mennonite church, the church where he was a minister for many years. There was a large attendance.
Death came to Bishop Litwiller at his farm home near here Saturday evening, June 30.
Ministers who had a part in the funral services were Ivan Kauffman, J. B. Hartzler, Ben Springer, J. N. Kauffman, A. C. Good and Howard Zehr. Several of these had been Bishop Litwiller's co-workers in the ministry.
Seven children, two sisters and three brothers survive.
Bishop Litwiller's duties had included oversight of congregations at Goodfield, Dillon, Midway, Morton and Hopedale. He was ordained as minister in 1910 and as bishop in 1925.
