On March 1, 1906 he was married to Lena Wittrig, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Elsie of Hopedale and Agnes and husband Edmund Zehr of Eureka; two sons, Ralph and wife Edna of Eureka and Lawrence and wife Gladys of Delavan; eight grandchildren; one brother, Ben F. of Lake Worth, Fla.; and one sister, Katie of Maple Lawn Homes, Eureka. Preceding him in death were five brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Until retirement 16 years ago he spent his entire life as a farmer in the Hopedale area, with the exception of three years (1916-1918) when he resided in Bureau County, Ill. near Tiskilwa.

In youth he accepted Christ as Saviour and was baptized in October of 1898. He united with the Hopedale Mennonite Church and remained a loyal member throughout life.

He will be remembered as a devoted companion and a kind, considerate father and grandfather.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 9 at the Hopedale Mennonite Church, in charge of Ben Springer and Ivan Kauffman. Burial was in the church cemetery.
