text of obituary:

MRS. BARBARA LITWILLER

Barbara Litwiller, daughter of Peter J. and Magdalena Naffziger, was born March 10, 1872, near Hopedale, Ill. and passed away suddenly at her home in Hopedale on the evening of March 26, 1957, at the age of 85 years and 16 days.

She was married to Amos Litwiller on Dec. 24, 1899, and together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 57 years. To this union were born five daughters and two sons, all of whom survive.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized at the Hopedale Mennonite Church by Bishop Christian Nafziger. She was a true and faithful member for 70 years.

Mother's devotion and concern for her entire family, and her loyalty to her Lord will linger always in our memory. She greatly missed the worship services when sickness prevented her attendance. She enjoyed visits from her family and friends and whenever she was able, made it a habit to visit others, especially the sick. She spent much time with her Bible, especially in her last years, in spite of her failing eyesight. Due to this condition she was denied many privileges which she formerly enjoyed. Although we will greatly miss her we know that our loss is her gain.

She leaves her bereaved companion and seven children, Mrs. Alma Kauffman of Minier, Ill., Mrs. Marie Sutter of Hopedale, Ill., Leonard of Delavan, Ill., Mrs. Mabel Zehr of Foosland, Ill., John of Hopedale, Mrs. Erma Nafziger of Minier, and Mrs Edna Thompson, Berwyn, Ill.; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her parents, six brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held March 29, 1957, at the Hopedale Mennonite Church. Howard Wittrig, Ben Springer and Ivan Kaauffmann officiated.

Burial was made at the Hopedale Mennonite church Cemetery.
