NEWTON AND VICINITY

Helen Penner Lingenfelder, 98, a retired bank clerk, died Feb. 9 at Kansas Christian Home. Services were held at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. Survivors include two step-daughters, Malinda Regier Brown of Newton and Berniece Edmonds of Leavenworth. Her husband, Jacob H., died in 1956.

Helen Penner Lingenfelder

Helen Penner Lingenfelder, 98, 1035 S. E. Third, died Friday (Feb. 9, 1996) at Kansas Christian Home.

She was born May 16, 1897, in Russia to P. H. and Elizabeth Penner. She married Jacob H. Lingenfelder. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1956.

She was a bank clerk for Midland National Bank for 25 years and a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. She had lived most of her life in Newton.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Malinda Regier Brown of Newton and Berniece Edmonds of Leavenworth.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Brandt and Kathryn Burton; 13 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

Private family graveside services will be Monday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Revs. Dorothea Janzen and Darrell Fast of Bethel College Mennonite Church officiating. A memorial service will be at 11 a. m. Monday at the Bethel College Mennonite Church.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p. m. Saturday and Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethel College Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
