Daniel H. Lichti,17564 East Clayton Ave., Parlier, Calif., son of John [sic and] Christine (Becker) Lichti, was born April 7, 1878, at Kertzenheim, Pfalz, Germany.

Upon his confession of faith that Jesus Christ was his personal Redeemer, he was baptized by Rev. Kieferndorf of Monsheim, Germany.

He received seven years of schooling in Germany before coming to the United States in 1891. For two years he resided in Kansas and attended Bethel College, Newton, Kansas.

In 1902 he moved to Paso Robles, Calif. Here he was married to Babette M. Horsch on Oct. 15, 1911, by his brohter, Rev. John K. Lichti.

In 1917 the family moved to Reedley, Calif. and in 1918 he joined the First Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member til his death. This happy marriage of 44 years was blessed with eight children: Dorothea Marie (Mrs. William Giitl), San Francisco; Rudolf Alfred, Dinuba; Ernest Henry, at home; Hedwig Margaret (Mrs. Hollis Johnson), Fresno; Hildegarde Elizabeth (Mrs. Leonard Bolinder), Kingsburg; Herbert Werner, Parlier; Olga Leona (Mrs. Harold Neufeld), Mission, Kansas; Alfred Daniel, at home.

He passed away at his home Oct. 24, 1955, having reached the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Babette; all eight children; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hertzler of Germany; three brothers, John K. of Sanger, Calif., Chris of Paso Robles, Calif., and Ernest of Reedley.

Bro Lichti was a rancher all his life and enjoyed his work. He was a good husband and father. He had been in good health all his life until about a year ago. He underwent two operations for cancer, but in all this he was patient and found great comfort in the hymn, "Man of Sorrows, Now My Soul Shall Greet Thee."

Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite Church in Reedley. The organ prelude was played by Mrs. David Kope and Ernest Lichti, son of the deceased. A quartet comprised of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ewy and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ewy sang, "Jesus, Our Saviour," "Grant Us Thy Peace," and "Take Thou My Hand." Rev. J. H. Richert, who was a schoolmate of Mr. Lichti at Bethel College, gave the invocation and spoke on Psalm 72, all in German. Rev. Aaron J. Epp, the pastor, spoke on Romans 8:38,39.
