And the Old Clock Stopped When Its Owner Died.

Hutchinson, Kansas. — Probably it was only a coincidence, but relatives grieving because of the death last week of John F. Letkeman, 86, of 500 East Sixth St., are awed by an astonishing parallel to the old poem:

"It stopped, short, never to run again; when the old man died."

Letkeman owned an old shelf clock, with brass pendulum showing thru the glass, which he brought to this country from Russia more than 50 years ago. he wound it faithfully every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the years. He died at 1:55 o'clock a week ago. At 2 o'clock the clock stopped and all efforts to start it have been of no avail. Even moving it to another shelf would not keep the pendulum swinging. Letkeman's granddaughter, Miss Ella Ediger said. — Hutchinson News.
