JACOB LETKEMAN

Jacob Letkeman was born at Kelstern, Sask. on October 15, 1914, the first child of a family of four.

On October 22, 1944 he married Anne Mueller, and the couple settled on a farm in the Kelstern area. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters and one son. In the fall of 1958 he took up grain buying with Federal Grain Company and fully enjoyed this occupation until ill health forced him to retire. They moved to Swift Current in 1969 where he enjoyed fairly good health until 1974. During his illness he faced various relapses and setbacks with cheerfulness and determination.

At the age of 17 he accepted Christ as his Saviour and later that year was baptized and accepted into the Elim Mennonite Brethren Church at Kelstern. He later transferred his membership to Swift Current Mennonite Brethren Church. He enjoyed being of service to his Lord and his church in the capacity of treasurer.

He went to be with the Lord peacefully on July 29. He is survived by his wife Anne; one son, Ken and wife Val; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Krahn and Mrs. Ted (Joyce) Wiensz; three grand-daughters: Carrie, Carla and Wendy, all of Swift Current; three sisters and his step-mother.
