MISS AUGUSTA LEISY

Miss Augusta Leisy was born in Eddyville, Iowa, June 27, 1878. From there she came with her parents to Wisner, Nebraska. In June 1901 her father passed away, leaving the mother to rear the family.

Upon the confession of her faith in Christ as her Savior she was baptized in Wisner, Nebraska by the late Rev. Schowalter and received into the membership of the Mennonite church there.

When her mother came to Idaho to make her permanent home in Aberdeen, Augusta went to California, where she lived for many years. While in California, she used her talents and served as dietician at one of the Los Angeles schools.

In 1942 Miss Leisy came to Idaho to make her home with her mother and sister. Through the ensuing years she diligently and conscientiously assisted in the home with the care of her aged mother. Being of a cheerful disposition, she helped wonderfully to while away the time for her feeble mother, who has been confined to the home for some time. She is now greatly missed in the home, as well as by her many friends.

After coming to Aberdeen to make her home, she joined the Mennonite church of Aberdeen. Here she was a faithful member, worshipping and serving the Lord by faithful attendance at midweek and Sunday services, and as a member of the ladies mission society. She always gave generously and willingly of her material means, talents and time for the cause of missions, relief and the church.

More recently, as the result of a heart condition, she was forced to give up active participation in church activities and in the home. However, her interest was as keen as previously and was shown by financial contributions and in other ways. Though not able to attend services for some time, she always entered with us into the worship services by means of the loud speaker that has been placed in their home. This service she appreciated very much and repeatedly expressed her gratitude for this privilege.

She passed away, to be with the Lord, in her sleep in the early morning hours of Nov. 29, 1950. She leaves to mourn her departure her aged mother, who is 94 years old, four sisters, Mrs. John Stauffer, Page, Nebr., Mrs. Fred Schowalter, Halstead, Kan., Mrs. Dora Haury, and Mrs. Alfred Wedel of Aberdeen, two brothers, Albert Leisy of Aberdeen, Ida., and August Leisy of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 3 by her pastor, H. N. Harder, in the home at 2:00 p.m. and in the church at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers serving were: Richard and Arthur Leisy, Roland and Gordon Toevs, Maurice Wedel and Earl Moser. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert J. Hege, Mrs. Maurice Wedel and Edwin Becker sang "Leaning on Jesus" in the home and "My God and I" and "Good Night Here and Good Morning up There" in the church. The pastor brought a message entitled "Asleep in Jesus" based on I Thess. 4:13-15.
