MRS. H. H. LEHRMAN

Theresa Wiebe Lehrman was born Aug. 26, 1892 to Henry J. and Susanna Schmidt Wiebe on a farm near Lehigh, Kan. Her parents had come to this country from Russia as children in 1874. Later the family moved to a farm in the Peabody area, where she finished her grade school education. After that she attended the Preparatory School in Hillsboro and then attended Bethel College. She taught rural school in Kansas for three years.

She was baptized in 1909 and received as a member of the Tabor Mennonite Church near Goessel, Kan. On June 10, 1915 she was married to Henry H. Lehrman. To this union were born four children—Elva, Ruby, Esther, and Charles. At the age of ten years Ruby went to her heavenly home.

Right after their marriage the Lehrmans pioneered at Dubois, Idaho where they lived until 1919 when they moved to Aberdeen, Idaho. She was a member of the newly organized Bethel Mennonite Church in the Dubois settlement and transferred her membership to the First Mennonite Church of Aberdeen, where she remained a faithful member for 53 years. She enjoyed teaching children's Sunday school classes for many years and also sponsoring the junior Christian Endeavor. She was active in the Women's Mission Society and took pleasure in sewing, quilting, and other hand work for the cause of missions.

In 1965 the Lehrmans were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Lehrman had been in failing health for several years. Visits by friends and the countless acts of love and kindness expressed by so many meant much to her as well as to her family. She enjoyed music and especially the singing of gospel songs and hymns. One of her favorite songs was "How Great Thou Art." Through the past months she especially enjoyed listening to music and the reading of uplifting stories. Death came quietly on April 28 at the age of 79.

Survivors include her husband; the children and their families, Elva, Mrs. E. H. Brucks of Aberdeen, Esther, Mrs. A. James Rinner of Newton, Kan., and Charles of Buhl, Idaho; nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Ewert of Hillsboro, Kan. and Mrs. P. I. Schroeder of Newton, Kan.; three brothers, Henry and Jacob Wiebe of Newton, and Herbert Wiebe of Hillsboro.
