JOEL A LEHMAN

The death of Joel Albert Lehman, 93, occurred Wednesday, March 18, at his home in West Liberty, Ohio where he had been ill 18 months. He was a retired farmer and well-known Holstein-Friesian dairyman.

Born Oct. 20, 1870, in Versailles, Mo., he was the last of a family of 11 children of John and Elizabeth Garber Lehman. He was married Nov. 3, 1895, to Martha Basinger who died on Sept. 27, 1952. He had farmed in Oklahoma and Missouri, moving to Portage County, Ohio in 1912 and to the West Liberty community in 1929. He and his wife moved into West Liberty in 1947.

Mr. Lehman is survived by his daughters, Miss Wilma and Bessie Lehman, at home, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Hartzler of Route 1, West Liberty, Mrs. Edwin (Sadie) Fisher of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Douglas (Caroline) Allen of Harrisonburg, Va., and Mrs. (Pauline) Miller of Chesapeake, Va.; five sons, Melvin R. of West Liberty, Rev. John A. Lehman, Belleville, and Daniel E., Wilfred J. and Kenneth H. Lehman of Route 1, West Liberty; 35 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
