Fall from Cherry Tree Fatal to Berne Man

Berne, Ind. — A fall from a ladder while picking cherries at his home on July 2 proved fatal to Herbert F. Lehman, 74, a lifelong resident of this community.

Cause of the fall is unknown as there were no witnesses. The badly injured man was found lying on the ground by a neighbor boy, Johnny Lehman. He died en route to the hospital in Decatur.

Mr. Sprunger [?] was a retired employee of the Dunbar Furniture Company here. He was an active member of the First Mennonite Church, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gordon Neuenschwander.

Survivors include the widow, two sons, three daughters, one brother, two sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
