MRS. ELIZABETH LEHMAN

Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Gerber (deceased), was born Feb. 23, 1870 and passed away after a lingering illness on July 6, 1951, at her home near Kidron, Ohio, aged 81 years, four months and 13 days.

She was baptized and received into the Sonnenberg Mennonite church April 23, 1886, and remained a faithful member the rest of her life.

On Feb. 10, 1910, she was married to Simon Lehman (a widower) who preceded her in death on August 11, 1934. One son Monroe was born to this union on April 2, 1914 but died when a year old. Two sisters also preceded her in death, Fanny, Mrs. Jacob Amstutz, and Lana, Mrs. Ben Welty.

Surviving are one step-daughter, Mrs. Joel Sommer of Orrville; two step-sons, Wilbert of Orrville and Menno of near Kidron, with whom she lived since her husband died. She was tenderly cared for during her long illness. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one brother, John, of near Dalton. One step-daughter, Mrs. Salome Kratzer, died in Oregon this spring and was brought back here for burial.

Sister Lehman was a lover of books but in her later years her eyesight began to fail, so the last year of her life she could not read anymore at all but was glad she had read her Bible diligently before, and also was a lover of music.

Funeral services were held July 9 and were in charge of Rev. Irvin Richert at the home. Rev. Louis Amstutz, Rev. J. Neuenschwander, her pastors, and Rev. Howard Hammer of the Wooster Mission officiated at the church. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
