In the past two months, several people at Sandy Hill experienced the death of a mother. Martha Shirk, 65, wife of Walter Shirk of Talmage, died May 4 after along illness. Ida (Mrs. Dale) Weaver, a daughter, is among the survivors.
That same day, Susan Lapp, 78, Paradise, died after a long illness. She was the mother of Melvin G. and Rhoda. Rhoda is the wife of Marvin Smoker. Mrs. Lapp's husband, Samuel S. Lapp, preceded her in death.
