Martha Landis.

Halstead, Kansas, Nov. 15. — Martha Landis was born near Lucien, Okla., on February 12, 1909. She was the eighth of nine children. On June 9, 1924, Rev. John Lichti administered the Holy Rite of Baptism and accepted her into the Church of Jesus Christ, uniting with Mennonite Church of Deer Creek, Okla. The following September she came to Halstead to complete her high school work and graduated with the Class of 1927. Upon completing her high school education she entered nurses training school at the Halstead Hospital on September 16, 1927. Her first year of training revealed to her that she could not have chosen a better field of service in which to spend her life.

She leaves to mourn her death her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Landis of Lucien, Okla., seven brothers, Walter and Arthur Landis of Lucien, Albert of Upland, Calif.' Otto of Davenport, Iowa, Carl of Bluffton, Iowa, Adolph and John of Tiskiliwa [sic Tiskilwa], Illinois. She was preceded in death by one sister, Freda.

Funeral services were held from the Mennonite Church last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. H. T. Unruh in charge. Interment was made in the City Cemetery. The entire staff of nurses attended the services with the exception of the Freshman class which entered in September. the following doctors of the Hospital acted as pallbearers: Dr. V. E. Chesky, Dr. T. D. Benjegerdes, Dr. Watson Campbell, Dr. L. E. Peckenschneider, Dr. C. L. Lindquist, and Dr. J. J. Havorka.
