. . .

— Another tragedy was discovered east of Newton last Monday when the lifeless bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Laatz and a two-year-old girl were found in a cabin of the Cottage City Cabin camp on the highway. It was around noon Monday when the proprietor of the camp entered the cabin and noticed the bodies there. As the camp stove, which had no flue, was still burning, it is thought that the three were evidently asphyxiated. The man, who was partly dressed, was sitting in a chair while the woman and little girl were still in bed. Very likely all were unaware that they were gradually being overcome by the gas. The man and woman were judged about 25 years of age.
