Indiana Area Residents Die the Same Day

Goshen, Ind. — Two residents of the Mennonite settlement northwest of Nappanee died on Feb. 9. Both were 76 years of age.

John C. Hochstetler died after a brief illness at the same farm home where he was born Jan. 4, 1886. His wife, who was Sarah J. Burkholder, died in 1951. A large family of descendants survives. Funeral services were held at the Maple Lawn Amish Mennonite Church with Steven Yoder and Jacob Mast officiating.

Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Kulp, widow of Christian Klup [sic Kulp], died at an Elkhart convalescent home where she had been a patient 16 days. A native of Virginia, she also leaves a large family including three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Wisler Mennonite Church, and funeral services were conducted at the Yellow Creek Frame Church by Wm. Ramer, Joe Martin and Paul Hoover.

EMMA ELIZABETH KULP

Emma Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel H and Emma Catherine (Shifflet) Blosser, was born near Dayton, Va. on Feb. 26, 1885. She departed this life Feb. 9, 1962 at the Westview Convalescent Home in Elkhart, Ind., where she had been a patient for 15 days, at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 14 days. She was in failing health for about three years.

On Jan. 4, 1909 she was united in marriage to Christian Kulp at Dayton. To this union were born 11 children. Samuel of Wauseon, O. passed away Dec. 12, 1956. Susie died at the age of two years, on April 19, 1915. Joseph met accidental death while in C.P.S. service in September 1945. Surviving are Mary, at home, Martha, Mrs. Orlen King of Archbold, O., Ernest of R. 1, New Paris, Ind., Christian Jr. of R. 3, Nappanee, Ind., Emma, Mrs. Junior Martin of R. 5, Goshen, Ind., Barbara, Mrs. Harvey Kilmer of R. 3, Nappanee, and Isaac of R. 2, Goshen.

After three years of married life they moved to Pennsylvania where they lived six years. On May 1, 1917 they moved to Elkhart County, Ind. They lived in their home in Union Township for 31 years. She and her husband shared joys and sorrows of life for 53 years. Surviving besides her aged companion are seven children; 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Samuel, Jonas and Fred Blosser, Mrs. Katie Lahman and Priscilla, Mrs. Mervin Shull, all of Virginia, and Mattie, Mrs. Emanuel Hartman of Archbold, Ohio.

Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Mennonite church, being a faithful member of the Yellow Creek congregation until death. — The Family.
