GUS A. KREHBIEL

Gus A. Krehbiel, son of Jacob P. and Mary Krehbiel, was born Feb. 13, 1887, in McPherson county near Moundridge, Kans. and departed this life on Nov. 2, 1949, at 11:20 o’clock at his home when he suffered a heart attack, reaching the age of 62 years, eight months and 19 days.

His boyhood was spent in his parental home on a farm near Moundridge. Incidentally he passed away at the place where he was born. He received his early school training in the district school near his home.

He was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. C. J. Goering May 18, 1902, and became a member of the Eden Mennonite church of which he remained a member until his departure.

He was joined in holy wedlock to Lydia Stucky Dec. 3, 1908, which union was blessed with 11 sons. One son preceded him in death.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and he took great pride in his family. He was also a lover of nature and of sports. He suffered severely with rheumatism for a number of years which indirectly was the cause of his death. At the time of death he was vice-president of the Krehbiel Hardware and Implement company, Moundridge.

He leaves to mourn his all too early departure his bereaved widow, four sons and six daughters, six sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law, and 18 grandchildren. One son-in-law preceded him in death, leaving to mourn his departure his widow and two children, for whom the grandfather cared as for his own for five years.
