RITA KRAHN

Rita Gertrude Gloria Krahn, the daughter of Kornelius and Erika Krahn of Kitchener, Ont., was born on July 28, 1957 in Winnipeg. With her parents she moved to Toronto in 1965 and settled in Kitchener in 1969. At the age of 14 years Rita was baptized and accepted into the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church.

At the Canadian Youth Conference i Banff at Christmas, 1974, Rita was first inspired to attend Columbia Bible Institute in Clearbrook, B.C. After completing high school in Kitchener, Rita spent two happy years at CBI, financed jointly by herself and her father. After graduation the Chorale of CBI, of which Rita was a member, toured California. On Sunday, May 8, tragedy struck. An impaired driver ran through a red light and struck the car in which Rita was a passenger, killing her instantly. She was ushered into the presence of the Lord she loved.

Funeral services were held on May 12 at the Kitchener Church. Ninety young people participated, as well as Rev. Osiah Horst of Toronto, Pastor John Froese, F. C. Peters, Rev. D. J. Klassen, and George Schmidt, who represented CBI. After the benediction the young people formed a "guard of honour" outside the church. Those who attended were deeply moved by the service. After the service, Rita's mother said she felt as if she had attended a wedding-and the Lord had called the bride home to heaven.

Rita is mourned by her parents, Kornelius and Erika Krahn; her sisters Ellen and Viola; her brother Harold; her twin brother Ralph; and many relatives and friends.
