REV. DIETRICH H. KOOP, WIDELY KNOWN CANADIAN MINISTER, DIED MARCH 1

Vineland, Ont. — Rev. Dietrich H. Koop, 57, widely known minister of the United Mennonite church here, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 1.

Born at Alexanderkrone in South Russia, he served as teacher and minister in the settlements there until 1925, when he joined the large Russian Mennonite migration to find a new home in Canada. His last pastorate in Russia was at Alexanderkrone, where he was minister and elder from 1915 to 1925.

He is survived by his wife and several children.

EDER [sic ELDER] DIETRICH H. KOOP

Funeral services for Rev. Dietrich H. Koop, elder of the Vineland (Ontario) United Mennonite church, were held early Saturday afternoon, March 4, in the funeral parlor at Campden, Ontario, and burial made in the Vineland cemetery. Rev. Koop's tragic and unexpected death occurred Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 1944, at his farm home near Vineland.

Although not in the best of health for some years, Rev. Koop still continued his ministerial duties and worked with notable success in his church and community.

Memorial services were held in both the Vineland and the Niagara United Mennonite churches Sunday, March 5.
