Tobias Koehn

Tobias Koehn, son of Henry and Helena (Koehn) Koehn, was born in Antonofka, Russia, on Sept. 22, 1849. He was baptized in 1874 by Elder Tobias Unruh. In the same year (1847 [sic 1874]) they came to America, arrived at Florence, and then settled north of Moundridge.

In the year 1879 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ratzlaff. To this union seven children were born, 5 sons and 2 daughters. They are Henry Koehn of Taloga, Okla., Helena (Koehn) Koehn of Perryton, Tex., Jacob and David Koehn of Taloga, Okla., Mary Koehn Jantz of Perryton, Tex., and Peter Koehn of Menno Okla.

From Moundridge, Kansas, he and his family moved to Taloga, Okla., in 1913. In July, 1917, his wife preceded him in death. Since that time he has made his home with his children at different places, during the last three or four years at Perryton, Tex., with his daughter.

He passed to the great beyond on July 25, 1936, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure 5 sons, 2 daughters, 5 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 36 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren preceded him in death.

His body was brought to Taloga, Okla., for burial. Rev. H. U. Schmidt of Meno, Okla., officiated at the funeral service held on July 27, 1936.
