MRS. SUSIE KOEHN

Mrs. Susie Becker Koehn, daughter of Jacob and Sara Becker, was born Jan. 26, 1869, in Poland, Russia and passed away June 5, 1958, at the home place east of Halstead, reaching the age of 89 years, four months and 10 days.

At the age of six years she came with her parents to America.

On Oct. 4, 1890, she was united in marriage to Tobias Koehn with whom she shared life's joys and sorrows for 51 years. To this union were born nine sons and five daughters. On March 24,1942, her dear companion was called away by death, leaving her very lonely.

At the age of 21 years she felt the need of a Saviour and upon the remission of sins and confession of faith she was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on April 1, 1894, of which she remained a faithful member to the end.

She was a devoted Christian, ever contending for the faith, and had a great concern for the salvation of her loved ones. She was a kind and loving mother, a good provider, always looking to the welfare of her home and loved ones. Through her hospitality many enjoyed the fellowship in her home.

She was blessed with fair health until the later years, being bedfast the last seven months. During her sickness she expressed her readiness to leave this world and to be at rest. She was granted this wish on Thursday, June 5, at 3:45 p. m. when it pleased our heavenly Father to relieve her of all suffering and she quietly and peacefully fell asleep.

She leaves to mourn her departure six sons and three daughters: Ben, Pete, and Paul of Halstead, Wilbert of Harrison, Mich., Eva, Mrs. Dan Schmidt of Montezuma, Kansas, John, Eli, Lena, and Inez of the home; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete Becker of Halstead, and a host of relatives and friends.

Her husband, three sons, two daughters, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, and six sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Mennonite Church on June8 at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. Carl J. Dirks officiating. Music was by the church choir.

Burial was in the Halstead cemetery with the Kaufman Fun- [sentence incomplete in original]
