MRS. KATHERINE VOTH KOEHN

Mrs. Katherine Voth Koehn, the daughter of David and Maria Jantz Voth, was born in Poland, Russia, September 30, 1860, she was baptized by Rev. Jacob Stuckey March 9, 1879, and joined what is now the Emmanuel church near Moundridge, Kansas.

With her husband and family they came to Oklahome [sic] when the Cherokee Strip opened and made their home near Meno, where she lived, until she was called to her reward. When she came to Oklahoma she became a member of the New Hopedale church, of which she was a loyal member until her death.

She was married to Benjamin P. Koehn September 9, 1879, who was taken from her June 10, 1924. She lived with her husband 44 years, nine months and one day.

During the last years of her life she suffered much, especially the last few days. She passed to her reward April 9, 1948, at the age of 87 years, six months and nine days.

She leaves to mourn her departure: Eight daughters, Mrs. Fred Pekrul, Goltry, Mrs. Henry Eck, Meno, Mrs. Jacob Johnson, Meno, Mrs. Andrew Kahn, Lahoma, Mrs. Ben Smith, Ringwood, Mrs. Jake Smith, Mrs. Pete Smith and Mrs. Jake Wedel, all of Enid; three sons, David and Peter, Meno, and Jacob of Carrier; one brother, Ben Voth of Goltry; and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Becker and Mrs. Lizzie Wedel of Enid, mrs. Anna Schultz, Protection, Kansas, and Mrs. Susie Dierksen, Geary, Okla.

Besides the above she leaves 78 grandchildren, 128 great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. There are a total of 209 direct descendents [sic].

The funeral took place in the New Hopedale church on April 13 with Rev. H. U. Schmidt in charge. Rev. A. J. Unruh gave the introduction and Rev. H. U. Schmidt, the closing message.
