MRS. EDNA KOEHN

Mrs. Edna (Becker) Koehn, daughter of John and Effie Becker, was born on October 30, 1895, at Halstead, Kansas and departed from this life on October 29, 1948, at the age of 52 years 11 months and 29 days.

Early in life she accepted Christ as her own personal Saviour and on the confession of her faith was baptized on March 13, 1921, by Rev. J. E. Amstutz. She became a member of the First Mennonite church of Halstead, Kansas.

On March 23, 1921, she was united in marriage to Adolph E. Koehn, with whom she shared joy and sorrow for 27 years. They made their home five miles northwest of Orienta for the past 15 years. Sometime after moving there she joined the Saron Mennonite church near Orienta, of which she was a faithful member until her death.

She had been in poor health for quite some time, but this fact was unknown to most people because she never complained about her condition. On Thursday October 28, 1948, she submitted to a goitre operation and seemed to be improving until Friday morning, when complications set in. She passed away at 7:05 a.m. Her testimony was that "It is well with my soul.”

Those who mourn her sudden departure are her husband, Adolph Koehn, children Alva and Elsie Mae of the home, and Rev. and Mrs. Walter (Ethel) Goossen of Hotevilla, Arizona; two granddaughters, Gloria Jean and Mildred Fae Goossen; her father, John J. Becker of Halstead, Kansas; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Otto (Hilda) Kruse of Burrton, Kansas, Rudolph and Dora Becker of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Wolfe of Hawthorne, California, Mrs. Pete (Sadie) Unruh of Newton, Kansas, Earl and Inolene Becker of Beaumont, California; her father-in-law, Henry Koehn; seven brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law, and a host of relatives and friends.

One daughter Ruby Jane, her mother and one brother have preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who cherished her cheerful disposition and helping hand. We mourn not as those who have no hope.

"For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
