Benjamin Koehn

Father Benjamin Koehn was born Janury 23, 1849, in village Antenofke, Poalnd, Russia, and died near Goltry, Oklahoma, June 26, 1930 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 3 days. He with his parents and many others came to this country during the year 1874. He remained in the state of Iowa for 4 years and then proceeded to McPherson, Kansas. He was joined in marriage to his present widow, Katherine Harms, in 1886. To this union were born 4 sons and one daughter. One son and four grandchildren preceded him in death. The brother became conver4ed during the year 1927 and remained a faithful member until death. He now leaves to mourn his departure his deeply bereaved wife, 3 sons, 1 daughter, 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 brothers and may other near relatives, who feel consoled to know he has gone to rest.

The funeral took place June 29, at the home of Jacob P. Schmidts, where Brother Fred Penner read several verses of the 146 Psalm, making a few parting remarks, and after singing a son, the funeral proceeded to the Mennonite Church in Goltry, when Brother Penner opened the services with prayer and brother H. D. Smith chose for his text Job 14:1-12. Then the remains were laid at rest in the Goltry Cemetery. — Ex.
