ADOLPH E. KOEHN

Adolph E. Koehn, son of Henry C. and Mary Koehn, was born on April 3, 1894, in Sedgwick County, Kansas , where he also spent the early part of his life. Later he moved with his parents to Taloga, Okla., and for the last 35 years or so he had lived in the Fairview-Orienta community.

On Nov. 12, 1912, upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized by Rev. John Ratzlaff and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite church at Taloga. On June 12, 1927, after moving with his family to the Orienta community, he transfered his membership to the Saron Mennonite church at Orienta.

On March 23, 1921, he was united in marriage to Edna Becker, who preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1947. For 27 years it was their privilege to share joys and sorrows. To this union were born four children, of whom one died in infancy.

After mother's death, father was very lonesome. During the last years, and especially the last winter, it was evident that his health was failing rapidly and that he was in need of special care. It was discovered that he had hardening of the arteries. On April 21 we took him to the Senior Citizens Nursing Home at Broken Arrow, Okla. On Aug. 5 he had the misfortune of fracturing his hip, which possibly hastened his death. He passed away while in the nursing home at Boken Arrow, Okla., on Aug. 25, 1959, attaining the age of 65 years, four months and 22 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure three children, Alva of Brunswick, Mo., Ethel, Mrs. Walter Goossen of Huebert, Okla. and Elsie Mae, Mrs. Carl Rankin of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Ben of Newton, Kan., Albert of Taloga, and Henry of Orienta; three sisters, Hulda, Mrs. Herman Buller of Orienta, Lisbeth, Mrs. Wm. Frantz, also of Orienta, and Evelyn, Mrs. Lafey Eck of Meno, Okla.; also many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by Edna, his wife, on Oct. 29, 1948; one daughter, Ruby Jane, in infancy; one sister, Mrs. Malinda Schmidt; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koehn.

Funeral services were held at the Saron Mennonite church near Orienta, Okla. on Aug. 28, 1959, with Rev. A. C. Seibert and Rev. Albert Unruh officiating.
