MRS. NETTIE KLIEWER

On Mar. 1, 1914 she found the Saviour and forgiveness of sins. Abraham Strauss was holding revival meetings at that time in the M. B. Church. On June 27, 1914, she was baptized by Elder John J. Kliewer with about 80 others in the Blue River.

She married John C. Kliewer on Oct. 26, 1919, at Hepburn, Sask., where they engaged in farming for 19 years. To this union one son was born. Nettie loved to serve the Lord. For many years she sang in the church choir and took part in other activities for her Lord.

On Oct. 13, 1937, she and her husband moved to Fresno, Calif. where he engaged in the building trade. They had a part in organizing the Bethany M. B. Church, of which they became charter members.

Nettie became seriously ill on Feb. 16, 1972. She passed away suddenly on Mar. 24 to meet her Lord and Saviour.

Nettie was much loved as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, of Fresno; one son, Alvin J. of San Jose; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jake Friesen and Mrs. Ike H. Regier of Fresno; two brothers, H. H. Goertzen of Sunnyvale, Calif. and John Goertzen of Fresno.

Services in her memory were held in the Bethany M. B. Church on March 28 at 10:00 a.m. in charge of Rev. Robert Radtke, pastor, and Rev. J. B. Toews.

MRS. NETTIE KLIEWER

Nettie Kliewer was born to Henry and Agnes (Grunau) Goertzen of Henderson, Nebraska, on September 10, 1901, in her parents farm home. She grew up near Henderson, and came to salvation there also. She was 12 when she came to the realization of sins forgiven and in the same year, on June 27, 1914, she was baptized by Elder John J. Kliewer, along with 80 others, in the Blue River and received into the Henderson Mennonite Brethren Church.

On October 26, 1919, she was united in marriage to John C. Kliewer at Hepburn, Sask., and for 19 years they farmed near the town of Hepburn. To their union was born one son, Alvin J. Kliewer. Nettie loved to serve the Lord, for many years she sang in the church choir and took part in other activities for her Lord. In 1937 they moved to Fresno, California, where they were engaged in the building trade. They became charter members of the Bethany MB Church of Fresno. She became seriously ill on February 16, 1972 and spent some time in the hospital. After a few days at home she again returned to the hospital and on March 24 she. went to meet her Lord and Saviour.

She was much loved as a wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, John C. Kliewer of Fresno; son Alvin of San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren, Eugene, Gerald and Elaine, also of San Jose; and two great grandchildren; as well as two sisters and two brothers. Memorial services were held in the Bethany Church of Fresno on March 28 with Rev. Robert Radtke and Rev. J. B. Toews ministering. Rev. R. M. Baerg led in a graveside meditation.
