REV. MENNO H. KLIEWER

Menno H. Kliewer, son of Henry G. and Anna Pankratz Kliewer, was born on Dec. 29, 1907 at Cordell, Okla., and died March 13, 1972 in Boise, Idaho at the age of 64 years.

His early years were spent on a farm near Cordell. As a teenager he publicly confessed faith in Christ through baptism and became a member of the church. On Feb. 2, 1930 he was married to Selma Schmidt, also of Cordell, Okla. In 1931 he received a call as minister of the Sichar Mennonite Church where he served as pastor for 15 years while also engaged in farming.

The Kliewers moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1946. There he worked for Sears Roebuck Company as maintenance engineer and pastored the First Mennonite Church for 16 years. In 1964 they moved to Boise where he worked as custodian for the Boise Independent School District. At the time of death he was a member of the Boise Friends Church and served as a Sunday school teacher.

He suffered a second heart attack on Jan. 31, 1972 from which he never recovered.

Surviving are his wife, Selma; one daughter, Janis, and husband Norman Schmidt of Quakertown, Pa.; one son, Richard Kliewer, and wife, Karen of Boise; eight grandchildren; one sister, Martha, Mrs. Albert Schmidt of Corn, Okla.

All who knew him will remember his friendly spirit, his kindness, and his faithfulness to whatever task he undertook.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Boise Friends Church in Boise, Idaho.
