KATHERINA KLEINSASSER

Katherina Glanzer Kleinsasser was born Oct. 7, 1880, to Paul and Katherine Glanzer near Freeman, S. D., and passed away Friday evening, Oct. 7, on her 80th birthday.

She was married to John A. Kleinsasser on Dec. 10, 1899, by Rev. John Z. Kleinsasser. this union lasted for nearly 61 years. In 1910 they moved to California. They returned in 1913 and lived north of Huron on a farm for 21 years. They moved back to California during the Depression and stayed 12 years until 1947 when they retired and moved to Yale, S. D.

Twelve children, five sons and seven daughters, were born to this union. She accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior, was baptized by Rev. John Wiebe and joined the Bethel church in 1906. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful church member to the end. Although her formal education was limited to a few years in German school, she loved to read. She knew most of the hymns by memory and read the Bible through some 13 times.

In August 1958 she underwent surgery which revealed that she was afflicted with a form of cancer. Oct. 3, 1960, she fell and broke her hip which hastened her end. She lived till her birthday Oct. 7 and quietly went home to be with her Lord.

She is survived by her husband, five sons, Joe and Paul of Yale, Harold of Dinuba, Calif., Walter of Hillsboro, Kan., and Willis of Glendora, Calif., seven daughters, Anna, Mrs. Frank Klaassen of Mountain Lake, Minn., Kathrine, Mrs. Edwin Wollman of Frankfort, Barbara, Mrs. H. R. Wiens of Dinuba, Calif., Mary, Mrs. John M. Hofer of Yale, Elizabeth, Mrs. Walter Wayfnelete of San Jose, Calif., Edna, Mrs. John S. Tschetter of Windom, Minn., and Emma, Mrs. Ed DeFehr of Weatherford, Okla.; 33 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.

In 1949 they celebrated their golden wedding with all children and grandchildren present. In 1959 they observed their 60th anniversary with seven children and many friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters. –The Husband and Family.
