TINA KLASSEN

Tina Klassen, 76, died early Saturday morning, June 12, at her home in Gretna, Manitoba.

Miss Klassen was born in southern Russia and came to Canada with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johann Klassen, in 1880 when she was eight years of age. Her parents were of the first pioneer farmers that settled at Neuanlage, one-half mile east and one-half mile north of Gretna.

After her parents' death Miss Klassen lived for a few years with her sister Annie at the old farm home, but since 1912 she had lived alone at Gretna. Her life had been rather quiet and uneventful. Until two months ago she has always two months ago she had always [sic duplicate line in original]

Miss Klassen was a strong supporter of charity and readily donated to charitable Institutions such as the Red Cross, the Children's Home, the Mennonite Collegiate Institute, the British Foreign Bible Society and the Bergthaler church, of which she was a member.

The mourning are: one brother, Diedrich Klassen, 81, at Gretna; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, June 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the M.C.I. chapel, with burial in the Gretna Cemetery.
