GUSTAV KLASSEN

Gustav Klassen, son of Jacob P., and Sarah Schmidt Klassen, was born May 23, 1989, south of Goessel, Kansas. He received his education in the Gordon School.

He was baptized upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on June 23, 1918, by Rev. P. H. Unruh and became a member of the Alexanderwohl church, whose faithful member he remained until the end.

On May 27, 1925, he was joined in marriage to Martha Nickel with whom he enjoyed over 35 years of happiness.

After serving as a clerk at the Franz Store in Goessel for 17 years, he served as a farm worker for 12 years. For the past four years he was custodian at the Alexanderwohl Church, where he served most faithfully.

Father passed away suddenly of a heart attack at about 8:00 p. m. on July 10, 1958.

He was a man of staunch Christian faith, especially concerned about the welfare of his family and desiring that they remain staunch in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ. His favorite verse of Scripture was Romans 12:12,”Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, and continuing constant in prayer.”

Those who mourn his sudden departure are his wife Martha and LeRoy of the home, Mrs. Alice Jantz and husband Harvey of Hesston, Harold and wife Joann of Hesston, Duane and wife Arlene of Huron, Calif., Mrs. Arlene Wiens and husband Stanley of Newton; four grandchildren; three brothers, J. G. Klassen of Hesston, Geo. Klassen of Canada, Arizona and Adolph Klassen of Goessel, and many other relatives and friends.

“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. (Rev. 14:13).
