ABRAM W. KLASSEN

Abram W. Klassen passed away Mar. 19. He was born Jan. 21, 1896 to Abram F. and Helena Klassen at Hochstadt, Man. The family moved to Horndean, Man., where he briefly attended school, completing grade 2. He and Anna Neufeld were married by Abram Friesen Nov. 17, 1918. Together they worked hard, raised their children and practised their faith. In February, 1924, dissatisfied with their spiritual lives, they sought guidance in God's Word and first Anna then Abram broke through to rebirth. They were baptized in August by Henry Voth. He found great joy and peace and afterward evaluated everything from the perspective of that experience. They lived in Rosenheim School District, then bought a quarter section in Melba School District. They worked hard and the land was not the best, but it produced what they needed for 35 years. He took training and was minister of Grossweide MB Church from 1945 until they retired from farming to Winkler in fall, 1962. Anna passed away in October, 1964. He married her sister, Aganetha Guenther Sept. 11, 1966. They moved to Salem Horne for the Aged in January, 1975. A trip to the Holy Land in 1976 was a highlight of his retirement years. Predeceased by his wife Anna, second wife Aganetha, daughter Helena and 4 children in infancy, he is mourned by his children John, Anne Braun and Lorence; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Mar. 23 in Winkler MB Church, with Jake Neufeld ministering.
