MRS. MATHILDA KINTZI

Following a heart attack, sudden death came to Mrs. Mathilda Kintzi of Butterfield, Minn., on Dec. 31, 1953. She had attained the age of 82 years, five months and 22 days.

Burial services were conducted from the Mennonite church of Butterfield Tuesday afternoon, January 5, at two o’clock. Rev. Edward Duerksen brought the message based on II Corinthians 5, a chapter pointing out that while on this earth, we must prepare for our future heavenly home. Two comforting hymns were sung by a duet composed of Mrs. Edward Duerksen and Mrs. Elmer Sawatzky. Pallbearers were Ervin Linscheid, Roland Friesen, Harry Miller, Oliver Miller, Raymond Linscheid and Delmar Linscheid.

Interment was made beside her husband, Arnold Kintzi, in the Mennonite cemetery north of Butterfield.

Mathilda Kintzi, daughter and oldest child of John and Christina (nee Miller) Rupp, was born in Galicia, Austria, on July 9, 1871. In 1883 she came to America with her parents, the family settling in Mankato, Minn. for a period of six years. She and her parents then moved and settled on a farm one-half mile south of Butterfield.

She was married to Arnold Kintzi at Butterfield on Feb. 14, 1893. She and her husband settled on a farm near St. James, where they resided for eight years. After this period of time, they moved onto a farm one mile north of Butterfield. They lived on this farm for 11 months after which time her husband died, in 1902. She then moved to town where she lived for over 50 years. To the above union were born four sons, Julius, Fred, Walter and Daniel, and one daughter, Dorothy, all of whom have preceded her in death.

Upon her confession of the Christian faith, she was baptized at 12 years of age. She joined the Mennonite church of which she was a faithful member, and of whose mission society she was a charter member. Her long widowed life brought with it many hardships; nevertheless, she kept her faith in the Lord until He called her home.

She is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Rudolph Linscheid and Mrs. Herbert Linscheid, both of Butterfield; one brother, John Rupp, of MacArthur, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Martha Kintzi, of Butterfield; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nephews and nieces. One greatgrandchild preceded her in death.
