Accidents Fatal To Pennsylvania Youths

YOUNG FATHER AND 19-YEAR-OLD AMISH YOUTH DIE IN SEPARATE MISHAPS

Lancaster, Pa. — Two Lancaster County young men were fatally injured in separate accidents recently, and a young Amish girl was critically injured in one of the mishaps.

Earl Y. Kurtz, 24, died in a Sunbury, Pa. hospital on Feb. 7 a few hours after the molasses truck he was driving collided with a tractor trailer on an icy highway.

Funeral serivces [sic] were held Feb. 10 at the Morgantown Mennonite Church, with Millard Shoup and Abner Stoltzfus in charge. He leaves his wife, who was Erma Smoker; a daughter, Marilyn Louise; his parents Min. and Mrs. Ira Kurtz, brothers and sisters.

On Feb. 3 a car driven by a New Holland youth crashed into an Amish buggy on the New Holland Pike in Leola, killing Samuel E. King, Jr., 19, and critically injuring Elizabeth King, 16, not related. Funeral services for the King youth were held at the home of his sister, Mrs. John S. Zook, and were widely attended. The parents and a number of brothers and sisters survive.
