JONA KING

Jona, son of Abraham and Mattie (Yoder) King, was born near Bellefontaine, Ohio, on Feb. 3, 1881, and passed away Nov. 5, 1948, age 67 years nine months and two days.

On May 26, 1903 he was married to Mollie M. Kauffman near Garden City, Mo., who passed away May 10, 1947.

Surviving are four sons and four daughters: Emma Belle (Mrs. A. J. Lais) of Mollalla [sic Molalla], Ore., E. Lloyd King of Kansas City, Mo., Naomi M. Dunsworth of Los Banas [sic Los Banos], Calif., Lawrence A. King of Minot, N. D., S. Kenneth King of Wecoma, Ore., Dorothy (Mrs. Lawrence Johnson) of Valseltz, Ore., Junior J. King of Valseltz [sic Valsetz], Ore., and Glenna Fern of Portland, Ore; four grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters, Aaron of West Liberty, Ohio, Abe of Harrisonburg, Va., Irvin of Malvern, Pa., Rudolph of Columbus, Ohio, Nelson of Meadville, Pa., Lydia (Mrs. F. P.) Kauffman of Garden City, Mo., Maude (Mrs. R. E.) Meyers of Geneva, Pa.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

His wife Mollie, a son Ray, two infant children, two brothers (Harvey and Simon) and two sisters (Anna and Ellen) preceded him.

On account of recent ill health he spent six weeks in Arizona, after which he spent two weeks in Ohio visiting relatives and friends. He was returning to Arizona when death occurred of a heart attack near Goodland, Kansas.

In his early youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Mennonite church, of which he remained a member until death. He grew to manhood to Logan county, Ohio. Later he came to Garden City, Mo., where he married and took up farming and stock raising. He lived in Missouri about 35 years, and about three years in Kansas. In 1936 he came with his family to Hubbard, Ore., where he lived until going to Arizona. He was always kind and loving to his wife and children, and always ready to sacrifice for their welfare.

Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at the Zion Mennonite church near Hubbard, Ore. Bro. C. I. Kropf and E. Z. Yoder were in charge, texts Phil. 3:20, 21 and Psalm 90:1-12. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
