Small Boy Drowns in Stock Tank

SERVICES HELD AT YODER, KANS. FOR 16 MONTH OLD CHILD

Hutchinson, Kans. — Funeral services were conducted at the Allen King home, Route 4, and the Yoder Mennonite church Sunday afternoon, Aug. 12, for the King's infant son, John Allen, who lost his life by drowning Thursday evening, Aug. 9.

The 16-month-old boy was playing in the farmyard and somehow fell into the watering tank. His father, who had seen him playing just a short time before, found him floating face-down on the water.

While Mr. King applied artificial respiration, Mrs. King took them in the car to the No. 1 fire station at Hutchinson, eight miles away. Upon arrival, a resuscitator was used, but all efforts to revive the little boy failed.

The funeral services were in charge of Bishop H. A. Diener and Edward Yutzy, and burial was in the Yoder cemetery. A large congregation of friends and relatives attended, including a number of relatives from Iowa.

John Allen is survived by the parents; a brother Vernon Lee and sister Vivian; and the grandmothers, Mrs. Emma Yutzy and Mrs. Anna King, both of Hutchinson.
