ELMER J. KING

Elmer Jacob King, son of Isaac B. King and Lydia (Zook) King, was born on March 3, 1877, near West Liberty, Ohio, and died at his home there on February 9, 1947, aged 69 years, 11 months and 6 days.

On March 3, 1904, he was united in marriage to Sarah Malinda Yoder, who is left to mourn his departure. There were five children born to this unin who also survive their father. The children are: Naomi, (Mrs. Lester) Slonecker, Bellefontaine; Loren S. King, Floyd Y. King, all of West Liberty; and Ruth (Mrs. John) Duerksen, Hesston, Kansas. Theirs has been the privilege of being nurtured in a Christian home. There were 12 grandchildren, two of whom preceded their grandfather in death during the past year, namely Piccolia and James King.

He spent his life in the vicinity of his birth with the exception of 14 years when he lived in Wayne county, Ohio. His parents preceded him in death but all of his brothers and sisters survive. They are: David P. King, Orrville, Milton King, West Liberty, Mrs. Eddie King and Mrs. Viola Shank, Bellefontaine, and Mrs. Elsie Fry, West Liberty, who was a twin sister.

Father has been a member of the Mennonite church since his youth. He was deeply interested in the welfare of the church and enjoyed teaching a Sunday School class for a number of years. Due to his inability to do much physical labor in recent months he spent much time reading and expressed himself as having received a new appreciation for and a fuller understanding of the letters written by the Apostle Paul. We rejoice in the hope he possessed in the future life.
