DAVID MARLIN KING

David Marlin King, two years and four months, son of Mr. and Mrs. David King of Cochranville, Penna., died from shock and injuries received in a farm accident on Dec. 28, 1954. He caught his hand in a potato grader, badly mangling the member. His death in Lancaster General hospital was due to shock after an operation was performed by surgeons in an attempt to save his han [sic hand]. tempt to save his hand. [repeated in original]

[word missing in original] barn with his four-year-old brother, James, when the accident occurred. When James ran to his father and told him, “David is crying,” Mr. King found the boy with his left hand drawn into the roller of the grader. The father pulled the electric switch, shutting off the machine. He and the other man used an axe to break the roller to release the boy.

In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers, James L. and Clare Isaac, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Edna Longacre of Barto, Penna.; his paternal grandparents, Isaac and Rebecca King of Parksburg RD; his great-grandfather, John Longacre of Barto. David was a ray of sunshine to all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 1, at the home south of Cochranville and at the Millwood Mennonite church. Interment was made in the Millwood cemetery.
