BEN E. KIM

Ben E. Kim, 85, of Longview Wash., died Dec. 2, 1996, at a Puyallup, Wash., care center.

He was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Moundridge, Kan., to Emil and Elisa Bootz Kim. He moved to Longview from Buhler, Kan., in 1955.

He owned and operated Steele Funeral Home until 1965, when he sold his business to Ditlevsen-Moore Funeral Home. He continued working at Steele's for several more years and retired from Colombia Funeral Service in 1990.

He was a member of Longview Community Church and a past member of Longview Elks Lode, Longview Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He was an avid fan of the Washington Huskies football team and enjoyed furniture refinishing and woodcarving.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret in 1994; and a son, Jerry Kym, in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Burrough of Puyallup; a son, Galen Kym of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; a sister, Bertha Thiessen of Buhler; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Columbia Funeral Chapel. Entombment was at Riverview Abbey in Portland.
