Lydia Kehler, long-time former missionary to Taiwan, died unexpectedly Dec. 8 at her Newton home. She was 51. Services were held Dec. 11 at the Faith Mennonite Church of Newton with Leonard Wiebe officiating. She was a member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church of Vancouver, B. C. Born Lydia Pankratz, she was married in 1952 to Peter Kehler, and they served together for several terms as missionaries to Taiwan under the General Conference Mennonite Church. They moved to Newton from Clearbrook, B. C. 15 months ago when her husband began working in the Commission on Overseas Mission office as Secretary for Asia. He survives along with three sons, David A. of Edmonton, Alta., Peter G. of Red Deer, Alta. and Dennis M. of Newton; two daughters, Judith L. and Darlene G. of the home; and two brothers, Peter F. Pankratz of Foam Lake, Sask. and Henry F. Pankratz of Abbotsford, B. C.
