SERVICES HELD FOR YOUNG FARMER KILLED IN TRACTOR ACCIDENT

A large congregation attended funeral services at the Eden Mennonite church near Moundridge last Saturday for Reed Kaufman, 27, young farmer of the community who was killed in a tractor accident on Sept. 6. The tragedy occurred at an intersection two miles east of Elyria when the tractor evidently skidded on the turn and tipped over, pinning the driver beneath.

Mr. Kaufman, a former student of Bethel college, leaves his wife and one child, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Kaufman of North Newton, two brothers and six sisters.

Only a few days earlier his nephew, Lyle Goering of Peabody, narrowly escaped death in a similar accident. He is confined to Bethel hospital with serious injuries.
