FINAL SERVICES AT MOUNDRIDGE FOR WICHITA COUPLE WHO DIED IN CRASH

Moundridge, Kansas. — Funeral services took place at the J. N. Kaufman home at the First Mennonite Church of Christian here on Saturday, Sept. 6, for Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Kaufman of Wichita, who were fatally injured on Sunday afternoon Aug. 31, when their car was truck by a fast train 10 miles south of Wichita.

The Kaufman’s were leading a procession of cars en route to a picnic of the deaf and dumb and apparently failed to see the approaching Rock Island Rocket passenger train, the track being hidden by a row of trees.

Mr. and Mrs. Kaufman had lived in this community before moving to [sic text missing in original] Kaufman was a son of the late Napoleon R. and Mrs. Kaufman, the father being a pioneer pastor of the Hopefield church of Moundridge. Survivors include four children, and three brothers and two sisters, as follows: J. N. Kaufman, Mrs. C. S. Goering and Mrs. Ernest Juhnke of Moundridge, L. N. Kaufman of Newton, and Menno Kaufman of Inman.
