HARLAN N. KAUFMAN OF HUTCHINSON DIED WHEN CRANE HITS POWER LINE

Hutchinson, Kan. — Funeral services for Harlan N. Kaufman, 31, who was electrocuted Friday in an accident at Memorial Park Cemetery, were held Sunday afternoon at the Bethany Mennonite Church near Kingman. Rev. P. P. Tschetter, the pastor, officiated.

Employed here as a dump truck operator by the Lloyd Bullock Construction Co., Mr. Kaufman was leaning against a truck on which was mounted a large crane when the 35-foot boom brushed a power line. The crane was being used by Mr. Bullock to dredge a pond at the cemetery.

Artificial respiration was applied at the scene of the tragedy, but Mr. Kaufman was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Surviving are the widow, Ellen, and two sons of the home in Hutchinson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Kaufman of Kingman; three brothers and seven sisters.
