CHRISTIAN L. KAUFMAN

Christian L. Kaufman, 513 Hovey Ave., Normal, Illinois, passed away at his home following a heart attack. Although he had been in failing health for several years, death came sudenly [sic] and unexpectedly.

Mr. Kaufman was born May 2, 1880, near Hudson, Illinois, and lived there until he moved to Normal four years ago. He was the son of Daniel and Magdalena Garber Kaufman. He married Martha Ummel Sept. 12, 1905, who with the following children are left to mourn his departure: Irene Dovel of Carlock, Earl of Hudson, and Harold of Sandusky, Ohio, and four grandchildren. One son, three sister, and his parents preceded him in death.

At the age of eleven he joined the Mennonite church and was a faithful and loyal Christian throughout ful and loyal Christian. [sic] During [sic] ent capacities in the church, the Mennonite Central Conference, Normal Community high school, and McLean County Federal Farm loan Association, but due to his health had to give up many of his activities. However, at the time of his death he was serving as Sunday School superintendent of the Normal church, and a member of the Publication Board of the Central Conference.

His funeral was largely attended at the Carlock Mennonite church on Sunday, and was conducted by the Rev. Harry Yoder and Rev. Lenard Metzker. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Patton accompanied by Miss Mabel Naffziger.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Memorial funds were also contributed to the building fund of the Normal Mennonite church the Mennonite hospital, and the organ fund of the Carlock Mennonite church.
