SAMUEL J. KAUFFMAN

Samuel J. Kauffman was born November 13, 1868, in LaGrange county, Indiana, died on February 1, 1950, at his home, Greentown, Ind., R. 2, aged 81 years two months and I8 days. He came to the Howard-Miami county, Indiana community in about 1900.

In 1903 he was married to Pricilla [sic Priscilla] Kaufman. To this union were born the following children, who with the widow survive him: Clayton of Elkhorn, Wis., Lela Birky and Geneva Birky, both of Kouts, Indiana, Howard and Imogene at home. A son Loren Joseph born in 1926 died in infancy.

Surviving besides the immediate family are four grandchildren and five brothers namely, Jacob of Clarksville, Mich., John of Shelbyville, Ill., Joseph of Middlebury, Ind., Daniel of Topeka, Ind., and Eli of Sarasota, Florida, and many other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Howard-Miami County congregation of near Kokomo, Ind. During his active years of service he was assistant Sunday school superintendent for many years, as well as a teacher. He will long be remembered for his friendly and hearty handshake.

Funeral services on Feb. 4, were in charge of A. G. Horner, assisted by E. J. Hochstedler: message based on Mal. 3:6, Psa. 119:89, Heb. 13:14 and Heb. 9:27. Burial followed in the Schrock cemetery.
