Mary Ann Smucker Kauffman, youngest daughter of Levi Y. and Selina K. Smucker, was born Nov. 8, 1893, in Champaign county, Ohio. She died Sept. 29, 1987, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, Ohio, at the age of 93.

She was a resident of the West Liberty, Ohio, community all her life. In her youth she joined the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, where for many years she prepared the floral arrangements for worship services and was an active member of the Women's Missionary and Service commission.

Her membership in the West Liberty Garden Club stimulated her interest in the hobby of flower arranging. Her life was devoted to her family, her church and her many friends.

With her husband, she was involved with the family farm and with the operation of the Maple Drive Dairy. She also spent several years on the staff of Brook Lane Hospital, Hagerstown, Md., and additional years of service at Penn Alps, Grantsville, Md.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda K. (Mrs. Seranus) Wideman of West Liberty; two sons, J. Howard Kauffman of Goshen, Ind., and E. Ellsworth Kauffman of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her only sister, Carrie (Mrs. Ray) McAlexander.

A family service held at Kauffman Funeral Home on Oct. 2, 1987, was followed by interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery and a public memorial service at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, with pastor Larry Augsburger in charge.
