DAVID H. KAUFFMAN

David H. Kauffman, son of the late Jacob D. and Salome (Hertzler) Kauffman, was born Nov. 18, 1873 near Bellefontaine, Ohio and passed away May 16, 1962 at the age of 88 years, five months 28 days. He died of complications following a threat of pneumonia.

He was married Nov. 21, 1900 to Leah H. Yoder of Mattawana, Pa., who passed away Dec. 28, 1929. To this union were born seven children: Fred Sylvanus, Mt. Crawford, Virginia; Florence Marie (Mrs. Menno Troyer), deceased in 1936; Jacob Michael, Grants Pass, Oregon; Julia Salome (Mrs. John Snyder), Harrisonburg, Va.; Vernon Livingston, Hubbard, Oregon; David Mark, deceased in 1914; Margaret Victoria (Mrs. Paul Snyder), Canby, Oregon. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He united with the Mennonite church as a young man. At the time of his death was a member of the Lindale Mennonite Church near Harrisonburg, Va. where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. John Snyder, the last two and one-half years of his life. During the last 30 years he devoted much time to Jewish Literature Evangelism in which he was deeply interested.

He will long be remembered by his family and friends as a man of faith, prayer, and deep devotion to the Word of God and for his fatherly concern to the end of his life for the spiritual welfare of his children, grandchildren and the church.
