MRS. BARBARA KAUFFMAN

Mrs. Barbara L. Kauffman, 68, widow of Benedict J. Kauffman, died at 6:45 p. m. Monday Oct. 2, at the Coil convalescent home to which she was taken about a year ago from her home, 313 Sunset boulevard. Goshen, Ind. Death was caused by a complication of ailments after an illness of two years.

Mrs. Kauffman was born in Johnson County, la., Jan. 3, 1882, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Miller. Mr. Kauffman, to whom Mrs. Kauffman was married Nov. 13, 1900, died Oct. 17, 1948. A son, Arthur L., also preceded Mrs. Kauffmann in death. The son died June 2, 1935. Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the Mennonite church.

Surviving are two sons. W. Paul, of Goshen, and Rollin V., of New Castle; two daughters, Mrs. Dana (Emily) Christner, of Lagrange, and Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Beam, of Palmyra, Pa.; six grandchildren; six brothers, Anson Miller, of Iowa City, la.; Chris S. Miller, Albany, Ore.; Arthur C. Miller, of Portland, Ore.; Lloyd J. Miller, Keota, Iowa; Weldon Miller of Wellman, Ia.; and George Miller of Goshen; and five sisters, Mrs. Alvin Slabaugh, of Goshen; Miss Alma Miller, of Iowa City, Ia.; Mrs. Herbert Beachy, of Wellman, Ia.; Mrs. Paul Snyder, of Kalona, Ia.; and Mrs. Roy Marner, of Riverside, Ia.

Funeral services were held at the Goshen College chapel on Thursday, Oct. 5 with Bishop S. C. Yoder officiating. Burial was in the Elkhart Prairie cemetery.
