Anna Kasper

Anna Kasper of Winnipeg passed away Mar. 15. She was born Mar. 7, 1903 to Heinrich and Helene Martens in Einlage, southern Russia. The family was musical. She worked as a seamstress at home. She married Peter Kasper in 1922. In 1943 they fled to Bamberg, Bavaria. In 1948 they immigrated to Winnipeg. They attended South End MB Church, where she was baptized by H.H. Janzen and became a member. She was concerned for newly immigrated youth who did not know English, so invited them for an evening of singing and fellowship; this developed into regular singing and play presentations. She became ill and was forced to give this up and was often in hospital. She is mourned by her husband; son Peter of Winnipeg; daughter Maria Stephens of Penn Yan, NY; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 sister
