Fatally Injured on Way Home From Florida

JOHN B. KANAGY WAS FORMER TEACHER AT HESSTON COLLEGE

Belleville, Pa. — Funeral services were held at the Allensville Mennonite Church on April 12 for John B. Kanagy, 79, who was fatally injured in an accident at New Market, Va. while en route home from his annual winter stay at Sarasota, Fla.

It was reported here that Mr. Kanagy, traveling with Mr. and Mrs. Sam N. Yoder and his sister, Pamelia M. Kanagy, was crossing the highway to a motel when he walked into the path of a passing car. He died at 11 a. m. the next day in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg.

A native of this community, Mr. Kanagy was a graduate of West Chester State Normal School. He taught for a number of years in schools of this area and at Hesston College in Kansas. He was also a surveryor [sic} and was active in mission work at Altoona, Pa.

Surviving in addition to the sister a brother, Jacob C. Kanagy of Sarasota.
